Accidentals

Privacy policy

Last updated October 25, 2026 (accounts added)

Accidentals is a music theory practice app at accidentals.app. This page explains what information it uses and why. The short version: you can use it without an account, and then your practice data never leaves your device. If you choose to sign in, we keep your progress in your account so it follows you between devices.

Without an account

Your settings, your progress in each key, your place in the guide and the days you practiced are saved in your browser’s local storage. They aren’t sent to us. Clearing your browser’s site data deletes them, and they don’t follow you to other devices or browsers.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional and uses your Google account. When you sign in we receive your name, email address and Google profile picture from Google, and we store:

We use this only to run your account and show you your progress. Accounts and progress are stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in the United States. We never see or store your Google password.

Deleting your account: on the Progress page, choose “Delete account”. This permanently deletes your account and the progress saved in it. Progress already saved in a browser stays there until you clear it.

What we receive

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use advertising or tracking cookies today.

Children

Anyone can use Accidentals without signing in, and that collects no personal information. Accounts are meant for people 13 and older; we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has signed in, email us and we’ll delete the account.

Coming changes

We plan to add emails about your practice, a paid ad-free option and advertising. Before any of that goes live, this policy will be updated to explain exactly what is collected and how you control it.
